Hiking and Camping - 2011-11-05

The temperature has cooled down. It’s a great time to spend a day or two outdoor.

We are going to Colorado Bend State Park to hike. Some of us will stay there on Saturday night to camp too.

Here is the plan:

  • leave Austin at 9am, Saturday
  • arrive at the state park around noon (should take about 2.5 hours to get there)
  • hike at one of the trails (probably the one by the river)
  • find a good spot to stop for picnic
  • return to trail head at 4pm
  • those interested in hiking-only will leave
  • those interested in camping will head to the camp site (about 1 mile walk)
  • set up the tent, relax, and enjoy the beautiful sky at night!!

Things to bring:

Hikers:

  • water
  • lunch (sandwich, or anything you want to enjoy at outdoor)

Campers:

  • All of above, plus:
  • 1 gallon of water,
  • sleeping bag,
  • food for dinner (we will have a stove for simple cooking)
  • we will bring the tent.
